TRÖEGS INDEPENDENT BREWING RESTON, VA EVENT
Local Artist to be Honored by Tröegs to Celebrate the First Squeeze of Nugget Nectar Ale
FEBRUARY 7, 2018 – RESTON, VA. Local artist Marni Manning (Sterling, VA) will join with Tröegs Independent Brewing to host a public event at Crafthouse in Reston, VA, Wednesday, February 7, 5-8pm. Free signed prints by the artist will be available at the event.
Marni Manning, along with 13 other artists, was commissioned by Tröegs to create a poster design for their yearly Nugget Nectar unveiling. Nugget Nectar is an imperial amber ale released once a year and provides a bright spot in the dead of winter for Tröegs’ beer fans.
Marni’s design process was one of three artists chosen for a 1 minute promotional documentary with Tröegs’ marketing team. As a ‘Thank You’ for her work and to celebrate the First Squeeze of Nugget Nectar 2018, Tröegs will host art and beer fans, as well as Marni’s family and friends, at Crafthouse in Reston Town Center (formerly World of Beer) by giving away free signed prints of Marni’s poster.
Marni’s process in creating the poster for Tröegs’ Nugget Nectar was inspired by her love of storytelling. “I had an idea – what if there was an origin story for beer?” Marni’s poster depicts a proverbial “Hand of God” emerging from the clouds and squeezing a hop, with little cherubs enjoying a pint of their First Squeeze. Her alternative watercolor style lends itself to an unusual sub-genre of art: modern folk art. Her use a vibrant color and simple lines, mixed with intricate detail to emphasize the deeper meaning in her art, are just a few reasons fans adore her work.
