Jazz Guitarist Josh Walker Live
Josh Walker is a busy guitarist, living and working in the Northern Virginia and DC area. Josh performs in a variety of groups and settings, including solo guitar performances. His solo guitar performances consist of a mixture of all-instrumental versions of jazz, Latin American music, classical, and original compositions, performed on acoustic, nylon string guitar. In 2011, Josh was awarded “Best Blues, Pop, or Rock Solo by an Instrumentalist at the College Graduate Level” by Downbeat Magazine. Josh is currently the guitar chair in the award winning Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, which holds a regular Monday night residency at the DC venue of the same name. He has shared the stage with artists such as McCoy Tyner, Jason Mraz, and Jon Irabagon, and performed at venues including the Kennedy Center, The Montreal International Jazz Festival, and the Port of Yokohoma’s 150th opening celebration in Japan. He has also opened concerts for acts such as Charlie Byrd and the Washington Guitar Quintet, Randy Brecker, and Donny McCaslin. His first album of all original music, which features a quartet of musicians, is entitled ‘Inertia’ and is available on iTunes.
Joshua continues to perform prolifically in settings ranging from large ensembles, to trios, duos, and solo guitar. His first album of all original music, ‘Inertia’, is available directly from Joshua, from Guitar Nine Records, iTunes, and CDBaby.
Joshua currently serves as the Professor of Jazz Guitar at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, is a member of the Guitar faculty at the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C. and teaches a guitar class at George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia.
