DogFest Walk ‘n Roll is coming to Washington DC! So grab your leash and get ready to have a tail-waggin’ good time! We’ll change lives, four paws at a time™. Grab your leashes and head to Reston Town Center in Reston, VA on Saturday, October 13, 2018 for the 5th annual DogFest DC benefiting Canine Companions for Independence. Furry friends and their families are invited to join us for a day of fun, festivities, graduate speakers, dog demonstrations, music, food and more. Admission is free, parking is free and our event is accessible. Last year, hundreds joined us in our biggest celebration yet with an agility course, demonstrations, treats, freebies, raffles, and best of all, stories of real graduate teams who live and work here in Washington DC. Canine Companions for Independence provides highly-trained assistance dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge. Work with us to make this possible! This fun night of Bingo will be held on Thursday, September 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Bike TrAle Brewing, 101 Loudoun Street, SE, Leesburg. A Full Pack (all games) is $25.00. Single games, except last game, are $2.50. Last game of 3-card sheet is $5.00. A prize will be awarded to one winner in each game. This event is held on the first Thursday of every month except in December. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Loudoun County.

RSVP Northern Virginia will hold a seminar on senior volunteerism, Thursday, Sept. 20, at 10:00 a.m., at the offices of Cornerstones in Reston. The one-hour event is free and open to the public. RSVP, the region’s largest volunteer network for people 55-years-old and better, provides individualized support to seniors who are seeking their ideal service opportunities in and around Fairfax County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. The event will be held in training room B at Cornerstones’ office located at 11150 Sunset Hills Road, Suite 210, Reston, Va., 20190. Free parking is available. RSVP offers more than 200 meaningful opportunities that include helping seniors age in place, assisting local veterans, and helping prepare communities for disasters. RSVP also recruits volunteers for various community events. Several of RSVP’s nonprofit partners offer volunteer opportunities in the Reston Area including Cornerstones and Fairfax County’s Volunteer Solutions. RSVP volunteers enjoy flexible schedules, free accident and liability insurance while serving, optional mileage and meal reimbursement and are invited to volunteer group projects and social gatherings.
