In time for the holidays, the Rainforest Trust is hosting the largest ever public auction of species naming rights. Holiday shoppers will be able to buy the ultimate gift of naming one of 12 new species including a blue-eyed yellow frog, speckled red and green frogs, orchids, a trap jaw ant, a mouse, a worm-like caecilian, and a big-eyed salamander that were found in South America. All proceeds protect the specific species’ habitat, helping save them from extinction. Pre-registration required.

Goose Creeks Players proudly presents its inaugural show, Miracle on 34th Street, the Play, directed and produced by Michael Goshorn. This classic, heartwarming story will delight and amaze the young and young-at-heart with its transformative themes of the power in belief, faith, imagination, and goodwill. Based on the 1947 classic film, the story revolves around an elderly gentleman who believes he is the real Santa and a little girl who learns to have faith in the magic of the Christmas season. Goose Creek Players is proud to support HeroHomes, a not-for-profit foundation established to build houses for veterans and their families. A portion of the proceeds of this production will go to HH. November 23rd & November 30th at 7:30pm November 24th & 25th at 2:00pm December 1st & 2nd at 2:00 pm Trillium Gathering Building 18915 Lincoln Road Purcellville, VA 20132 Audience members are encouraged to stick around after the show to take pictures with Santa Claus. Mountain Community Theater adapted Miracle on 34th Street from the novel by Valentine Davies; based on the 20th Century Fox motion picture “Miracle on 34th Street.” This production is produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois. Goose Creek Players is an affiliation and co-operative effort of Stevens Miller and Michael Goshorn.

The 2018 Alternative Gift Market (AGM) and Craft Fair lets you provide light and hope in your community and around the globe through 30+ participating charities accepting monetary gifts in support of their missions. Local and global non-profits taking part in the AGM offer one time donation opportunities that cover the costs of food, shelter, clothing, education, and other basics for those in need. Participating local organizations include Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS), Friends of Homeless Animals, Lift Me Up, OAR, Helping Hungry Kids, Kids R First, and Cornerstones. In addition to the charitable organizations, the AGM will include two vendors selling fair trade crafts made by artisans in Africa and Central America.
