Recently, Serving Together, a program of Mental Health Association that serves the Washington, DC region, led a dynamic discussion on services to veterans with the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) Nonprofit Initiative.
Building upon nearly sixty years of MHA’s service to the Washington, D.C. community, Serving Together strives to increase awareness of resources for service members, veterans and their families. Through community collaboration, education and advocacy, MHA and Serving Together empower those who have served our country to reach for mental and physical wellness.
A Serving Together program representative walked the LCCC through their programming, their view of the needs of local Veterans, and their online searchable database, www.ServingTogether Project.org. The site clearly articulates Serving Together’s knowledge of the DC metro area and provides straightforward guidance for service members and their families on how to access the information and resources they deserve. Serving Together, with help from government, local organizations, and businesses, provides a sustained, coordinated system to support veterans living throughout the region and to welcome home the newest generation of Warriors.
The Serving Together presentation provided LCCC nonprofit initiative members with valuable information about resources and support services that few had been aware of before. Personally, I found this resource to be a strong testament to the helpful resources available in Loudoun County and throughout the Northern Virginia and metropolitan Washington DC area.
